October 9, 2024 King Philip Regional School District Welcomes New Coordinator for Healthy KP Substance Use Prevention Coalition NORFOLK — Superintendent Dr. Rich Drolet, Director of Wellness Dot Pearl and the Healthy KP Steering Committee are pleased to welcome a new coordinator for the Healthy KP Substance Use Prevention Coalition, Karen Becker. Coordinator Becker brings over 20 years of educational experience, as well as expert program development, to the role. She has worked with numerous health-focused nonprofit organizations and coalitions throughout her career, which allows her to bring a wealth of experience in all programming areas including grant writing, event planning and training, program development and creative communication strategies. “I am passionate about cultivating relationships, fostering healthy communities and empowering students, and I am very eager to jump into this dynamic role,” Coordinator Becker said. “I’m committed to nurturing the well-being, growth and connection of our community’s youth and families. I’m excited to join Healthy KP and to do my part to help reduce substance abuse among our youth.” Coordinator Becker holds a master’s degree in education and has taught science to grades K-12. She most recently served as the transition program coordinator at Walpole High School, supporting students’ successful reintegration into school following extended absences. She is deeply invested in the Wrentham and King Philip communities as a resident and volunteer, having actively contributed to Wrentham 350, King Philip Music Association, Cultural Council, Landscape Committee and Girl Scouts. She is the proud parent of two children who attended King Philip schools. “We are thrilled to welcome Karen to her new role as KP Substance Use Prevention Coalition Coordinator,” said Director of Wellness Pearl. “Karen brings a wealth of experience and passion and we expect that she will bring a new perspective and desire to improve this impactful organization.” King Philip is in the fifth year of a grant from the Drug-Free Communities (DFC) Support Program and will apply for another grant in the spring of 2025 to earn another five years. Formed in 2018, Healthy KP is a coalition of volunteers from various sectors of the community involved in reducing youth substance use, working together to prevent and reduce the use of alcohol, drugs, and tobacco products among the communities of Plainville, Wrentham and Norfolk. https://www.kingphilip.org/king-philip-regional-school-district-welcomes-new-coordinator-for-healthy-kp-substance-use-prevention-coalition/
